This is a five year programme generally for children in the age-group of 11 to 16 years. The two final years culminate into Board Examinations (ICSE) under the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. This being the very first Board Examination for the child, this five year programme has to be designed in such a manner that, at the conclusion of their programme, students will not only have a sound foundation of essential knowledge, skills and attitudes, but also have the ability to reflect on their learning and develop new learning from them.
Students at this stage are in a phase of personal and intellectual development which is quite critical. There is uncertainty, resistance and questioning and if they are not handled carefully one may come across a lot of rebellious attitude.
Children work in the laboratories equipped for the Sciences as well as for Computers and Art. They are also guided through socially useful productive work (SUPW) where they learn basic life skills. For physical development the school organises Aerobics, Karate and Yoga under capable instructors. They organise Science Quizzes, Essay writing competitions, Debates, they do Munning and the school organises various lectures/lecture demonstrations by eminent persons from various fields in order to increase their exposure.
A lot of the coursework is completed through projects which the students are awarded as assignments and 20 marks out of 100 in most subjects are marked on these assignments.
